coming into focus...
i was in the vaults of the Bishop in 2006...
they would not allow photographs.
i saw some boards there that were
far beyond my comprehension.
these boards are by jon wegener.
sliding at windansea yesterday...
plus a taste of the research on this subject
conducted by hydrodynamica over the past
six years.

ReplyDeletewe asked politely if we could photograph
the boards in storage, and we were politely
refused. i did not ask why, out of respect
for the institution. the board i remember,
in my mind's eye, was a very thin and longish
alaia...a beautiful, highly refined object.
but i could not picture riding waves on it,
it was from outer space.
but know i can, having experience on
similar boards. hope that helps.
wegener and i have been in touch and I might get some blanks off him to make some of these boards with my high school art class--should be fun
