Casper the mini simmons
Below are a few pics of Casper. Casper is a six foot
dual keeled hydrodynamic planing hull made
of styrofoam and epoxy. We heard stories about
Simmons building two 6 foot boards out of
Styrofoam and riding them at Windansea
many years ago. Inspired by these accounts
In 2006 I got together with John Elwell and Joe Bauguess
and we decided to build a similar board using dimensions
from Elwell's original 9 foot balsa dual keeled
Simmons board. Joe Bauguess shaped Casper
from a block of Styrofoam generously provided
by Mike Eaton. More on Casper and his
offspring later...

Losing Matthew 'Worm" Joyce
This world makes no sense...
Worm finally lost his battle with cystic fibrosis and
left us forever. He was kind, gentle, selfless,
full of love for life and other human beings...
and he was very young. Why Worm?

Apricot Lis rides again
Below is the famous portrait of Steve Lis
taken by Warren Bolster in 1973. The board
in the photo is now cared for by Cher and
Steve Pendarvis...Cher was kind enough to
let me ride it a few summers ago, as
shown in the frame grab cuttie below.

Stevie comes correct...
"We're just gonna keep surfing and keep making boards
and it doesn't matter what the media or the industry thinks
because it wasn't about them to begin with."
- STEVE LIS, HYDRODYNAMICA INTERVIEW
HAWAII, 2006.
