HYDRODYNAMICA TEST PILOT SERIES

Simmons's philosophy was to build just enough
boards to support his surfing habit.
We agree.
By popular demand the mini Simmons planing hull
is available at the following shops, staffed by
our friends and fellow stoked test pilots:

Patagonia (Cardiff by the Sea, Devon, Jon, & crew)

Mollusk (SF, NYC, VENICE, John, Dutchie, Bubbie, & crew)

Mitch's (La Jolla, Solana Beach, Mitch, Carter, & crew)

Shelter Surf Shop (Long Beach, Graham, Kim, RT, & crew)

Thalia Street Surf Shop (Laguna, Nick, Cori, and mad OC peeps)

Surf Garage (Honolulu, Oahu, TORU!)

Jack Ocean (Japan, CHO SAN & CREW)

low tide & boomerangs

lowest tide of the year reveals a lone abalone
clinging to life. meanwhile, amongst the
grotesque displays of conspicuous consumption
on camino de la costa the vetour's mansion
reflects a more dignified era...when this was
Raymond Chandler's street. Finally, we have
John Elwell, keeper of Simmon's boomerangs,
and many other secrets...

south swells travel thousands of miles to reach Windansea,
through the islands where surfing was born...they arrive here
with just a hint of the places they've been. Stoked to ride
the mothercraft and feel even more connected.
Board from Jon Wegener...broke it a few weeks ago
and Ekstrom glued it back up good as new.
thanks dessa for the pics.

Captain Beamish sets sail for 2009

Patrick Trefz came down and we saw off Captain Christian Beamish
in his fine little bark, the Comorant. We followed to the tip of Point Loma,
passengers of Captain Liz Clark. Christain built the Comorant from
scratch, using plans from a traditional Shetland Island fishing boat.
He is heading south, solo, down the west coast of the baja.
Patrick is documenting portions of the voyage...stay tuned.
Christian has two trusty single fin hulls along for the ride.
Inspiring.
