the unexpected knock...

i grew up on the Tales from the Tube comic book insert that
came with a very early 1970s SURFER magazine. Illustrated
by the likes of Rick Griffin, Robert Williams, and Glenn Chase.
I bit Glenn's pen and ink style as best I could. See here two
of my 8th grade efforts from 1974. Also see a legitimate Glenn Chase
Innermost Limits poster. I ran into Glenn yesterday
at Windansea, still making art, still tripping.
Artists like Griffin and Chase were oracles who
laid down the visual prophesies of surfing's future....
and thus...it came to pass.

Oh my God! I grew up with Glenn and we finally talked again after almost 30 years! He was supposed to come out Florida way but I never heard from him. Before I read your post I knew it was him. How could you not! His eyes, his hair, Windansea, the art. Damn! Good to see he is still around. Good to see he's still trippin'!! Glenn and I have quite a few stories in the old days of surfin'! I'm still surfin', I'm in my 45th year of it and still goin'! Greenback Surf Club is still alive to after 40+ years!!! Aloha, Hobby

Thanks for the confirmation, but actually I meant the whole dynamics of the event as a "whole". I lived halfway up Playa Del Sur in 1970, surfed with the likes of Tom Ortner, Dale Dobson, and others. Heard anything of Ortner?

when its good.
