Daniel Thomson eppie in the shorie.

Daniel Thomson came thru after
a two year haitus, spending a night
here before heading for...kentucky?
yes, kentucky.Took him for a
shorie jet lag sesh fresh of the trans-pacific
slog... DT is holding
a quiver of ultra high performance
kinetic energy deflectors...years of
collaboration with his father Mark
are evident, though DT is a design
force in his own right...and he's an ok
surfer too. (he fucking RIPS)
very impressive boards. the last time
i was with DT he was
testing Casper in Baja Sur...this little
dual blade channel is a super refined
mutated caspernoid via terra australis
incognita...couple years down the road.

an honest grovel

ryan burch...engaged in a favorite southern
california pastime: the grovel.
like florida, but way colder.
this builds character in surfer.
anyone can paddle out in warm
8 foot barrels. desperadoes made
tolerable by a 5'3" planing hull trilobyte.

sliding with ryan and lucas

ryan burch came down from north
county to metro sd proper...
a fine young chap he is.
i filmed a bit...first at crappy
desperadoes with eli mirandon...
then we had some burritos...
great conversation about the art...
then lucas called...out of school...so
lucas and ryan had
a little alaia session at sculpins,
formerly known as squigmans.
free hydrodynamica indeed!

MCJA

Of course, San Diego remains at the
forefront of centaur evolution.
We are multi-dimensional.
It is not all about surfing down here.

"...a strange nostalgia for the future..."

its a fun board, but its NOT A FUNBOARD.
serious fun. yes, we take fun seriously around here.
on the test track: Ryan Bracker finds a new freedom on a craft
composed of Simmons foils, paipo planing principles...
with directional stability provided by Gephart's r & d...
though this particular set made by Hoyt...this board is
5'1" and it'll draw longer lines than those seen on
plains of nazca...

the clips below.

peter parkin built the first skateboard in 1948...
right up the street from the Simmons test track.
uhhh...think about it...we do.
here's another little edit of Max Diaz

Max prefers bunnies.

C LIS GO

The Lis quiver...
the primary inspiration for this whole
deal...past, present, future...

little ruff edit of fish surfing 2003
through 2006.

Ladyfinger

KCRW's Liza Richardson with the Ladyfinger...
Casper's playmate...
Liza rode the Lady on March 29 in honor of Simmons'
birthday.
more Planet of the Apes birthday nonsense:
the Ladyfinger is a 5'8" slightly more refined version
of Casper...shaped by Joe Bauguess, who is, by
the way, head honcho on all Simmons planing hull
designs, in case anyone was wondering...
Joe shaped the Ladyfinger on 7/14,
another day that appears as "ship time"
on Captain Taylor's spaceship...
the moment the crew goes into hibernation...
this is all Remember the Future stuff...
consider the deeper meaning carefully.

3/27/09

Jill Jordan baked a Zaius cake for me birthday.
whats that got to do with planing hulls?
it will take years of research to find out,
i assure you. On the 29th we rode a few
for Bob Simmons... thats his birthday.
